SEIU Local 199 members teach the youngsters, drive the buses, prepare the meals, and clean the buildings, all in an effort to create the optimal learning environment for thousands of Iowa children.   We are the backbone of our public schools, usually working outside the spotlight, but working with children every school day in and outside the classroom.

We, the working men and women of Local 199 believe we have a moral responsibility to leave the world a better place for all who come after us.  But we, the school workers of SEIU Local 199, are also united by the belief in the dignity and worth of workers and the services they provide.  Therefore we stand with and for out brothers and sisters to make sure that through our collective strength we are paid and treated with the respect that we deserve.
