than 2 million people to witness the historic inauguration of President Barack Obama. But unlike so many in that mass of humanity most of us watched on television, Marshall and Stephanie were guests of Vice President Joe Biden. This meant going to inaugural balls and seeing the White House with the Vice President himself. Months before, then-presidential candidate Biden had “walked a day” in Marshall’s shoes. He shadowed Marshall for a full day as Marshall took care of a school building and grounds. The pair have stayed in touch since. This past January it was Marshall’s turn to find out a little bit more about the Vice President’s world.

“I truly have no word or single phrase to explain my inaugural trip. I can take an hour and you will only understand a glimpse of the feeling,” Marshall said of the experience.
