Vaccine Victories

 Smiley Guy
From the beginning, we have supported the idea of health care workers
receiving influenza vaccinations. But we were also very clear that any
employer-based vaccination program must be voluntary and part of a
comprehensive infectious disease program.

Be Ready for a Tough Bargaining Year

Everybody knows that chapters going to the bargaining table this year and early next year are in for a tough fight given the current economic climate.  Our folks at the Mahaska County Highway Department and the Strawberry Point Lutheran Home are already in the midst of some difficult bargaining sessions.

LET’S PASS THE EMPLOYEE FREE CHOICE ACT AND FIX HEALTH CARE

We can rebuild the Middle Class with the Employee Free Choice Act. While working families struggle, CEOs are making record profits. Even worse, corporations are working hard to deny workers their freedom to unite for a voice on the job—driving down wages, access to affordable healthcare, and retirement security for all of us. These CEOs wouldn’t work a day without a written contract to protect their perks and benefits—so why shouldn’t workers have the same protections? There’s federal legislation that will make sure all workers get a fair chance at achieving the American Dream.

SEIU Local 199 Sponsorship Program Accepting Applications!

The SEIU Local 199 Sponsorship Program is designed to connect your union with your life outside of work and at the same time demonstrate that we are an important part of your community. If you are an SEIU Local 199 member and you participate in community or charitable activities that you believe can benefit from Local 199 support, we encourage you to apply for a grant. Please note that the program is not designed to support regular chapter activities or purely recreational activities that do not have a charitable or community component.
