Big Vote Oct. 10–24 for Public Hospital and School Workers

Here’s how to VOTE YES to Protect Our Hospitals and Schools!

Iowa’s public employees are under attack. The politicians in power in Des Moines passed a law that’s intended to destroy our union voice. The law creates an unfair election process that public workers must win before we can bargain for improvements.

Here’s what’s so unfair about the election process: A majority of voters could vote yes for our union, but if that majority is not at least half of all workers in the unit, we lose the election. In other words, workers who don’t vote get counted as a No. And if we lose, our union is dissolved and workers can’t negotiate for better wages.

It’s so important for every employee — both union members and non-members — to VOTE YES!

This vote is how we fight back against the politicians trying to silence our voice and gut the public services Iowans rely on.  If you have any questions about voting or have any difficulty voting, call the SEIU union office at 319-341-0112.
